Our clinic timings

If you have any questions or would like to explore one of the below methods of contraception further, please contact the team.

From 1st October 2023, your sexual health service provider has changed to Solutions 4 Health.

To allow us to run a safe service, as we change to new ways of working, we must reduce what we can offer patients between 9th and 23rd October 2023. During these two weeks, we will continue to see patients who have pre-booked appointments for sexual health, complex contraception and PrEP.

If you have symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection or require complex emergency contraception (such as a coil fitting) please call us on 0191 229 2999 between 08:30 and 10:30 daily.

Your details will be taken, and a clinician will call you back the same day to discuss your problem, provide advice, signpost to other services, or offer you an emergency appointment, However, we only have a limited number of emergency slots each day available to see acute/emergency patients, and if they are all taken for that day, you will need to call back again the next day to try again.

If we are unable to offer you an emergency appointment, you are able to use any sexual health clinic in neighbouring areas. The nearest clinics to Newcastle are North Tyneside, Northumberland and Gateshead but patients are able to use any sexual health clinic they choose.

When the clinic is closed, patients are advised if they think they may have had an exposure to HIV to visit the accident and emergency department for PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis – specialist medication to reduce the risk of infection). Information on where to go for emergency contraception can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/emergency-contraception/

Confidentiality

Confidentiality means keeping information safe and private. Our service will keep all your health information confidential. This includes: anything you tell us, any information we write down about you and details of any treatment you have had. Read more in our FAQ section here.

Relationships

We believe that young people need to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to develop sexual behavior that is safe and enjoyable for them and their sexual partners. Part of being safe is being in supportive relationships. Read more in our FAQ section here

Sexuality

Sexuality is about how you express yourself sexually. A part of your sexuality is your sexual orientation, which is who you are attracted to, want to have sex with and who you fall in love with.   It’s not something you control or choose; it just is!

Figuring out your own sexuality is not always simple. For some, it’s not something they need to question, but others need more time to work through their feelings and desires.  Not everyone is sure about their sexuality, and feelings can change a lot as you develop.

Contraception

If you’re ready to start to thinking about having sex, or already having sex, then it’s a good time to think about how you will keep yourself sexually healthy. Learn more by viewing our contraception page here.

Pregnant and unsure of what to do?

Finding out you are pregnant, when it wasn’t planned can be very distressing.  For some women they may be unsure what to do next.  You can contact us or speak to your own doctor for advice about the options.

If you feel that having a pregnancy at this time is not right for you, they can also refer you on to an abortion service provider, who will be able to give you more advice, to help you make the right choice for you and your circumstances.

If you are in any doubt about what to do, contact us on 0191 229 2999 or read more here.

(All abortion services are free on the NHS)
